十幾年前，北京僅以2票這差惜敗于悉尼（sydney），一條重要的原因就是環保，悉尼正是打出“環保牌”才最終贏得了奧運會的主辦權。在2000年悉尼奧運會賽場上我們可以看到綠草茵茵。我們在惋惜自己失敗的同時，更應該吸取悉尼成功的經驗。環境保護不僅是我們申奧、舉辦奧運會的口號，更是造福于中國人民的千秋大業。綠色奧運（the Green Olympics）是我們應該銘記的目標。

Dialogue:

A: Do you know what the main feature the Sydney Olympics is, John?

你知道悉尼奧運會還有一個什么特點嗎？

B: Of course, I know.

我當然知道。

A: What?

什么特點？

B: Environmental protection.

環保�。�

A: Do you know when IOC put forward the issue of environmental protection?

你知道國際奧委會在哪一年提出環保課題的嗎？

B: Sorry, I have no idea about it.

抱歉，這我還真不知道。

A: Let me tell you. In 1991. At that time, Sydney put forward the slogan "environmental protection", thus, it won the bid.

讓我來告訴你，那是1991年。當時，悉尼正是打出“環保牌”才贏得申辦權。

B: What a nice memory! Oh, I know that Beijing and Sydney bid for the Olympic Games together.

好記性！噢，我知道那時北京和悉尼一起參加申奧。

A: Yeah, Sydney had five strate-gies: save energy, save water, reduce trash, prevent pollution, and protect the environmnet. They tried to host a "Green Olympics".

不錯，悉尼有五大戰略，即：節能、節水、減少垃圾、防止污染與保護環境。他們要辦一屆“綠色奧運”。

B: They have racked their brain.

他們可謂絞盡腦汁。

A: Yes. Even the torch and fuel are produced by using environmental protection techniques and materials.

是的。就連火炬和燃料都采用環保技術與材料制成。

B: Even so, there was still much pity left. The Green and Peace Organization called it at most a half green.

即使如此，還留下了不少遺憾。綠色和平組織，稱其最多是半綠色。

A: That's been quite good. It's the beginning after all. I'm sure that it will be better and better.

已經很不錯了，畢竟是剛剛開始嘛。我相信以后會越來越好。
