實用英語 聽到什么風聲In the wind

聽到了什么風聲，意思是什么事據傳說可能即將發生；英文里也有一個與此相似的詞組，也叫做in the wind。

　　例如： Changes in top management of the company have been in the wind for weeks. 幾周來人們一直在傳說，公司上層即將進行改組。

　　再如： Tom’s close friends knew that marriage was in the wind. 湯姆的好朋友都知道湯姆很快就要結婚了。

　　英文中還有一個與in the wind 極相似的詞組，即in the air。如何區分這兩個詞組的不同和用法呢？ In the air 也是指流傳的，懸而未決的，意思是某件事總是在人的腦海里縈回不去，而且一般來說是件肯定會發生的事，不像in the wind 所指的事那樣只是傳聞而已。

　　The war filled people’s thoughts everyday; it was in the air. 戰爭每天都在人們的腦海里縈回不去。

　　此外，它還可以表示“縈繞，充滿”，如：The song lingered in the air.（歌聲繚繞）Excitement is in the air.（到處充滿了興奮之情）
